Be Submerged - March 9-13

“Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates, so that as long as the heavens are above the earth, your days and those of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your fathers. - Deuteronomy 11:18-21

I love, love, love these verses in Deuteronomy. We are to be absolutely inundated, engulfed, flooded, overflowing, and entirely submerged in the Word of God. Our lives are to revolve around it, and there is wonderful fruit produced by God’s people who do so.

But there is also responsibility here, personally we must not be trying to walk out our faith surviving on meager scraps of God’s word, the odd daily devotion or listening to a sermon every so often is not a replacement for having scripture imprinted on our hearts and minds. Husbands/Fathers here have extra responsibility, as the head of their households men are accountable for this scripture being applied in their homes and families.

So where do we start? We start by loving God’s word, reading it regularly and faithfully. Both by ourselves and with others, so that we truly know it in our hearts and minds, so that we remember it. Then talk about it! If you love something, you’re going to talk about it. So talk about scripture with your friends and family, put effort into teaching it to your children, let your home be a place where the words of God abound! Finally, seek the Lord in prayer, that He would give you wisdom and revelation from His Word, that He would stir a passion in you to know him more and more through the scriptures.

Have a great week!
