Statement of Faith

We believe in one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, who is eternal, all-knowing, all-wise and all-powerful, and who alone is worthy to receive the worship of His creatures.

  1. We believe God manifests Himself as a Trinity of persons: the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

  2. We believe that people are created in the image of God to know God, to glorify Him and to enjoy Him forever.

  3. We believe that humanity has willfully rebelled against God; this rebellion is what the Bible calls sin. As a result of sin, we are all subject to God's wrath and in need of salvation.

  4. We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God the Father, and is both fully God and fully man. We believe He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

  5. We believe the purpose of Christ's coming was to do the will of God on earth: to declare the truth of God through His teaching, to prove the character of God through His life, to demonstrate the power of God through miraculous signs, and to win redemption for all humanity and to destroy the works of the enemy through His atoning death and resurrection.

  6. We believe Jesus Christ lived a perfect and sinless life and that His death was a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of all people.

  7. We believe that Jesus rose again on the third day, and after forty days ascended to the right hand of God, and is currently interceding for all Christians.

  8. We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, has been poured out by God to reveal Jesus Christ, to empower the saints to live and serve God, and to convict men of sin, righteousness and judgment.

  9. We believe that all human beings stand accountable to God. We believe that all who have come to God through Jesus Christ are justified in God's sight, and that all who do not believe remain the objects of God's wrath. We believe that the destiny of all people is either eternal life with Jesus Christ or eternal judgment and separation from God.

  10. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired and authoritative Word of God, and the only true guide to faith and life.

  11. We believe that all who truly believe in Jesus Christ form one body, the Church.

  12. We believe in the Priesthood of all believers, and that the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to all believers today.

  13. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming again in power and glory to create a new heaven and a new earth, in which righteousness will rule and wickedness will be no more, in which all who have believed in Him will live and reign forever.

  14. We believe in Christian marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others.

A value is n ot something you think you believe, or wish you would believe, or think we should believe, it's something that deep down, you do believe, you do own, you do feel deeply about. It's a non-negotiable truth you just can't go back on.

We Value Life in God

o Word Based: The Bible is our authority for all our faith and practices. God is only authentically known in the Bible and only authentically worshipped by a life lived according to the Bible.

o Christ-centered: Christ and His death on the cross is not just a part of our lives; it is the sun around which the solar system of Christianity revolves. The cross is the path of personal and inward devotion, as well as the power and goal of all evangelism.

o Spirit Led: we know that only the Holy Spirit brings life, personally and in the local church. Apart from Him we can do nothing.

We Value Life in the Church

o The Church as Family: The New Testament uses over one hundred metaphors for the Church. By far the most common is to the church as a family. This paradigm informs us about how we live as a church.

o The Five-Fold Ministries: We believe that the ministries described in Ephesians 4 (Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers, and Evangelists) continue to be God's gift to build up the local church today. While all five gifts seldom reside in a single local church, we welcome input from outside teams that value relational connectedness and the local church.

o Global Connectedness and Ethnic Diversity: God loves the whole world, and every people group reflects something of his beauty and character. We are richer for receiving from other cultures, and by being joined together with people from around the world. The gospel is for everyone, everywhere.

o Investing Generationally: The church must pass on the baton to upcoming leaders and generations. If we don't invest into the future now, we might not have one at all.

We Value Life Together

o Unity: For us, unity is not optional. Unity is at the heart of Jesus' prayer for us in John 17, and where there is unity the Lord commands his blessing (Ps. 133). Unity may vary with spheres of responsibility and relationship.

o Relationships: Relational transparency and connectedness puts who we are before what we do. Ministry longevity depends upon relational maturity.

o Integrity: Who we are when no one is looking matters. Our hidden struggles and sins dishonour God and can grow into life-derailing issues which ruin us. Character must precede calling, and personal integrity comes before public ministry. Charisma without character leads to catastrophe.

o Male and Female Uniqueness: We are grateful for the Bible's teachings about men and women. They are equal but not the same. Godly male-headship never dominates or squashes, but releases, blesses and brings safety. Theologians call this a complementarian view of men and women because we complement each other without being the same.
