International Friends

We are fortunate to have friends in several countries around the world, some sent out from our own church to other places, and others whose home has always been in those places.

Doug & Jan Taylor

Doug and Jan Taylor have worked as missionaries in central Mexico for the last 4 years. They currently live in the small village of Cofradia (approximately 800 people). In near proximity are 2 other smaller villages. There is a church and a short-term missions base on the Cofradia property and a recently planted church about 7km. away in Arrayanes. They work with Alternative Missions and are currently Directors of Family Ministries. They speak at conferences regarding youth, marriages, family issues and personal purity. They have done seminars while in Mexico including Guadalajara, Huatabampo, Mazatlan, La Cruz and in several other smaller locations. In 2004/05 they started and oversee 5 family cell groups. They currently train and lead 18 leaders in the Purpose Driven Life. They have the privilege of working with many different leaders of various denominations as they help at the Short-term missions base. Teams come and experience rural Mexico, helping with work/construction projects, evangelism and ministry to the local believers. They work with several other missionaries and do what ever is helpful to disciple and train others, particularly leaders. They both teach and counsel whenever the opportunity arises. They love the people of Mexico and have joined their hearts to many. They are available for conferences in Canada, Mexico or the U.S.A. as time permits.

Kevin & Maria Martens

Working in a predominantly atheistic city, Kevin & Maria Martens serve as part of a church planting team in Prague, Czech Republic.

"Since graduating in 2005, I believed I would continue pastoring for the unforeseen future, but in 2006, we began to entertain thoughts of becoming missionaries, believing that God was calling. Entertaining that thought led to us taking steps in making that a reality and since December 2008, my family and I have made Prague, Czech Republic our home! It's quite the change from living within Manitoba's Bible belt! Thankfully we're not here alone as we're part of an 8 member team under Avant Ministries whose goal it is to plant Czech reproducing churches. We love what we're doing and can't imagine not being here! God is good & we believe that He will plant and build His church!"
