International Friends

We are fortunate to have friends in several countries around the world, some sent out from our own church to other places, and others whose home has always been in those places.

Doug & Jan Taylor

Doug & Jan have been ministering in Mexico for over 10 years, and since 2008, their work there has focused on the area around Mazatlan. They work with local churches to develop leaders and to equip people in family and marriage-related issues, and this work has grown to the point where they receive more invitations to speak or do seminars than they can accept.

The Taylors have also been assisting some local churches in their work in a very needy area on the outskirts of Mazatlan, where they have helped to develop leaders who then plan to plant churches in that area.

Our family in Africa

Calvary supports a family who has moved to Africa to work amongst a Muslim unreached people group. Their goal there is to see a church established with indigenous leadership but there are many challenges to overcome in achieving that goal. They appreciate prayer as they grow in their grasp of the language and as they love their neighbours in such a distant land. We're thrilled that this family and their team can provide a light in such a dark place, from whom people will be able to hear the good news of Jesus.

Kevin & Maria Martens

Working in a predominantly atheistic city, Kevin & Maria Martens serve as part of a church planting team in Prague, Czech Republic.

"Since graduating in 2005, I believed I would continue pastoring for the unforeseen future, but in 2006, we began to entertain thoughts of becoming missionaries, believing that God was calling. Entertaining that thought led to us taking steps in making that a reality and since December 2008, my family and I have made Prague, Czech Republic our home! It's quite the change from living within Manitoba's Bible belt! Thankfully we're not here alone as we're part of an 8 member team under Avant Ministries whose goal it is to plant Czech reproducing churches. We love what we're doing and can't imagine not being here! God is good & we believe that He will plant and build His church!"
